What this event is
LA Tech Week is a decentralized conference presented by a16z, running October 12–18 with hundreds of independently hosted events by startups, VCs and larger companies. The calendar mixes AI panels, demo days, happy hours and founder mixers, and many hosts use their events to meet engineering candidates. Individual events require separate RSVPs on the calendar.

Who should go
Engineers targeting seed-to-Series-C startups in AI, gaming, aerospace or consumer tech who are comfortable networking without a formal job-fair structure.
This is not a job fair, and that is the point: founders at these events are hiring but nobody is holding a sign. Filter the calendar for 'hiring', 'founders' and 'engineers' and RSVP to three or four small events, not the big parties. Startups at this stage rarely sponsor H-1Bs, so if you need sponsorship, prioritize the events hosted by funded Series B+ companies. Follow up on LinkedIn within 24 hours while they still remember the conversation.

Sponsorship reality
Sponsorship varies by employer. No organizer publishes sponsorship. Check each employer you plan to meet against H-1B disclosure data before you go, and ask in the first two minutes so neither side wastes the conversation.
