What this event is
The College of Engineering's fall expo is Tuesday, October 6, 2026 from noon to 3:30 PM in the HUB Ballrooms with roughly 70 employers. All majors are welcome and it is open to students and alumni seeking internships, part-time and full-time roles. Registration is not required, but students are encouraged to join the event on Handshake.
Roles you will actually see
Who should go
UW engineering and CS students and recent alumni who want face time with core engineering employers before the general fair the next day.
This is the more technical of UW's two big fall fairs, so treat it as the priority and the general fair on the 7th as the follow-up. Seventy employers in three and a half hours means you will not see everyone; pick eight and go deep. Sponsorship varies wildly by booth: the large cloud and enterprise software names historically sponsor, while aerospace and defense booths usually cannot, so ask early and do not waste a conversation.
Show up prepared
- 1Set your Handshake profile to 'Community' and join the event so recruiters can find you
- 2Rank your target booths by software headcount, not brand size
- 3Bring a laptop-free portfolio: one page of projects with links
Sponsorship reality
Sponsorship varies by employer. No organizer publishes sponsorship. Check each employer you plan to meet against H-1B disclosure data before you go, and ask in the first two minutes so neither side wastes the conversation.
Showing up is half of it.
The other half is being first to the roles these employers post, and having something real to show when you get there.
See roles the minute they go live, tailor one resume per employer, and reach the hiring manager directly. Walk into the event as a follow-up, not a stranger.
